Gennaro's paintings present different kinds of experimentations, which apparently may look unfamiliar to contemporary social dynamics. In reality, these two elements are deeply connected to one another.
His painting technique is rational, deeply thought out and reflects the world filtered by personal introspection. The strokes of color become shapes which are juxtaposed and defined by the line, an abstract element that is essential to connect perception with thought. These shapes, which are connected by the line and whose color scheme repeats throughout the entire work, eventually deliver a sense of balance and proportion to those who observe it.
There is no movement perceived, just the immediacy of the idea: the single shape of color does not mean anything on its own, yet when connected to the others it constitutes the representation in its whole. As the single individual becomes a person because of the relation with the other, the single colour acquires significance when related to the others.
The artist's implicit message is clear: he envisions a world based on balance and respect between men; a vision that utterly contrasts with the contemporary, predominant idea of prevarication and annihilation of the other. Moreover, his artistic proposal aims to restore the aspiration to the universal and break with those contemporary trends that have ousted memory, symbols and narrative. These three elements are perceived by the artist as an instantaneous part of his pictorial research on timelessness.
